Beret Pattern

So here’s another knitting pattern that I’m making for the girls to go with their Christmas dresses. I’ll have to take a picture when I work up at the Gymboree Outlet on Thursday.

So here’s what’s needed:

1 Ball of Bernat Soft Bouclé and a set of size 7 needles

I’m only making the Beret, so….

Cast on 82 sts. Work 4 rows in (K2, P2) ribbing. Increase 3 sts evenly across last row. 85 sts.

Row 1: Knit

Row 2 and all even rows: Purl

Row 3: K1 (M1, K14) 6 times. 91 sts.

Row 5: K1 (M1, K15) 6 times. 97 sts.

Row 7: K1 (M1, K16) 6 times. 103 sts.
Continue in this manner, increase 6 sts as before on every alternate row until there are 115 sts. Work 4 rows even in stocking st.

Next Row: K1, (K2Tog, K17) 6 times. 109 sts.

Next Row and all alternate rows: Purl

Next Row: K1, (K2Tog, K16) 6 times. 103 sts.

K1, (K2Tog, K15) 6 times. 97 sts.
Continue in this manner, decrease 6 sts as before on every alternate row until there are 31 sts. Purl 1 row.

K1, (K2Tog, K3) 6 times. 26 sts.  Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread yarn through remaining sts. Draw up tightly and fasten securely. Sew back seam.

Hazelnut Stitch

I'm posting this knitting pattern 'cause I keep losing it!! I'm using this one and one called 'Overlapping Leaves' for a blanket I'm making for Cyan. I was thinking of adding a picture of the Hazelnut stitch, it's the only one I've worked on so far.

This pattern is made in multiples of 4 +3
R1: (RS) *P3, (K1, yfwd, K1) into next stitch, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, P3.
R2: K3, *P3, K3, repeat from * to end.
R3: *P3, K3, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, P3
R4: K3, *P3tog, K3, repeat from * to end.
R5: Purl
R6: Knit
R7: P1, *(K1, yfwd, K1) into next stitch, P3, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, (K1, yfwd, K1) into next stitch, P1
R8: K1, *P3, K3, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, P3, K1
R9: P1, *K3, P3, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, K3, P1
R10: K1, *P3tog, K3, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, P3tog, K1
R11: Purl
R12: Knit
Repeat these 12 rows until you have the desired length.

If anyone has any knitting patterns they'd like to share I'd love that!

June

This month is going to be extremly busy for the family I think. Wilson's Birthday was yesterday and he is now into his TERRIBLE two's. I think he's been in them for at least the last month, with the way he's been biting everyone...except Jamie!! Then we're doing a combo Birthday Party again for Lili and Wilson on the 14th. Then Lili's birthday is the following Tuesday.

Cyan is going to be taking swimmimg lessons starting the 22nd, from 9:30am until 10. And it goes on for two weeks. Then there's working on top of that, and just trying to get some time to spend as a family. I'd really like to go over to Bradenton for a couple of days with the kids, let them see Carla, Mike, Roxanne and Grandmother. Oh and Jessica and Lauren, Lili LOVES her cousin Lauren!

Well, I've got to bring Jamie his phone and flash drive and then head up to Sebastin for Wilson's two year check up. I'm curious to see if he's still over 100% for his age in height, weight, and head size. I never would have thought that he's be as big as he is. And he only seems to eat really well two, three times a week (breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack), normally he'll only eat breakfast or lunch and then dinner and no snack. Meh...as long as he's healthy I'm not gonna worry about it.

I hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday!

Wow… and boy do I mean WOW!!

So…I was just kinda putter around the apartment today. Cleaning up as much as I can with stuff that has no home all over the place, made some brownies, yadda, yadda, yadda. Well, I sit down at my computer and typed ‘Penaluna’ into the search bar in Facebook. Wow, lots of people with that name, most of them are in Britain, really weird considering it’s a surname with it’s origins in Spain. Bunch of people in NY too.

Went on over to Myspace and did the same thing. Added that I wanted it to search within 50 miles of Monticello, NY. and I got the hit I was looking for. One Amy Penaluna. I really wasn’t expecting anything. So I wrote her a quick little note, letter know who I was and that I wanted to get to know her and anyone in the family that wanted to get to know me.

Got home from work and picking up the kids from mom and dads and checked my e-mail. I had two New Friend requests, so I log onto myspace to check ‘em out and one is from Amy and the other is from my niece, Amy’s oldest daughter. So that’s my cool news of the year… she said that my birth mom was ecstatic and she had been looking for years but had no idea where to look.

Ever since I was pregnant with Lili it’s been really important to me to find my birth family. And now I have. I’m excited. Well, night all! Hope everyone has a good Friday!!

Cyan's Birthday Party

14 March 2009

WOOT…yeah for me

So, after 2 years of not having one (and no, I’m not talking about kids), I’ve finally gotten a job! Yea! I’m workin’ at Gymboree! I’m sooo excited! I’ve been trying to get a job there for a YEAR, but the old manager Tara…well, just let me say that my sissa Jacy has nothing on this lady in the ditz department. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a nice lady, but if her head weren’t firmly attached…

Well, Jamie’s got a new job working for a guy named Boris Gonzalez. And let me tell ya, nice guy, really he is, but if I thought I was Bi-Polar, I don’t now. But yeah, he’s a nice guy, Owns a Boutique Hotel, The Caribbean Court Hotel and a rehab place, The Gonzalez Recovery Residence. I mean a guy with THAT owns a rehab place has got to be good. He’s very hands on, (kinda ‘James I’) Has to micro-Manage everything it seems like and boy 'o’ boy can the man TALK. On and on and on and on some more.

Well, that's all for now. I’ve got some school work to do…:/ English comp, comparison and contrast…So, not looking forward to Tuesday…or Thursday, I have a mid-term test then. Ughh…

10 March 2009

Soooooo Tired

Well, here I am, at 7:30am, sitting in my seat waiting for English Comp to start. But is anyone here?? No, there is no one here and there was nothing on the door saying that class was cancelled, like last week. I really, really hate that, I get up at 6:30, drive myself to school, go up to class and then wham! No class! I drove ALL the way there, exhausted, and then there’s no class. And now it’s 1:29 and class is supposed to start at 7:30 and still no one! OMFG, people just showed up!!! Finally!

So for my next thing. Did you know that Slim Fast has Partially Hydrogenated Soybean oil? Which is really stupid because Hydrogenated oil makes fat cells that are harder to get rid of and if your body makes any type of cells from it they have a smaller life span. It’s been linked to Alzheimer's and a couple different types of Cancer.

To me, that’s really, really scary. I never realized how many foods I ate that had trans fats. And the FDA lets all these companies get away with not putting the amount of trans fat. They put 0grams Trans Fat, but that’s not how Trans Fat is measured. It’s measured by milligrams!

I find it frightening that the FDA lets companies get away with this! Pepperidge Farm’s Cookies, Ritz Crackers (not the crisps), Keebler, Ruffles/Lays Con Queso dips, Cheetoes!!, Twix, Snickers, Starbursts, Skittles, most types of donuts (I’ve only found that Entemann’s plain, powdered or cinnamon). I was horrified when I realized how many of these things I let my kids eat.

Over the last month of so, I’ve cut out all the foods I can that have Trans fats, which is very hard mind you. But so far so good! I even have Cyan telling people “I can’t have that because it has Hydrogenated Oils, and they’re bad for our brains." Okay that’s it for now, I’m so exhausted right now, and class started finally.
